- Degree-seeking students and <span class="gmaildefault">others</span> <span class="gmaildefault">(e.g. postdocs, professors, museum researchers, institutional researchers, etc.)</span> engag<span class="gmaildefault">ed</span> in<span class="gmaildefault"> <u>any</u></span><u> <span class="gmaildefault">mollusk</span> research</u><span class="gmaildefault"> are</span> eligible.<br>
- Persons of any nationality and country of residence may apply.<br>
- Applicants from previous years may re-apply.<br>
- Recipients of previous years may re-apply, but must include a submitted manuscript to or published article in the American Conchologist based on the previous award.<br>
- Degree-seeking students must have a letter of recommendation by their advisor emailed to <b><a href="mailto:jannvendetti@yahoo.com" target="_blank">jannvendetti@yahoo.com</a> </b>by the Feb. 28th deadline with the applicant's name is the subject line.<br>

Rules & Guidelines:</b><br>
- <span class="gmaildefault">Applications</span> must be submitted via email as a .doc, or .pdf. under 3 MB.<br>
- The proposal must concern a malacological topic with any molluscan taxon or taxa as the focus, e.g., parasite studies should focus on the molluscan side of the interaction. All disciplines from autecology to zoogeography, including paleontology, are eligible.<br>
- The project must be<span class="gmaildefault"> mostly</span> self-contained<span class="gmaildefault">.</span> However, the proposal may be a component of the applicant's overall research.<br>
- <span class="gmaildefault">Major p</span>ermanent equipment is not an allowable expense. Time using a piece of permanent equipment (for example, SEM beam time) is allowable.<br>
- Institutional overhead is not permitted.<br>
- The maximum award is $2,500 US<span class="gmaildefault">: s</span>maller amounts can be requested and may be more likely to receive funding. Partial funding is possible<span class="gmaildefault">.</span><br>
- All recipients are expected to submit a summary of their work to American Conchologist within 12 months of receiving the award.<br>
- All applications are evaluated by the Academic Grants Committee composed of three professional malacologists appointed by the Chair of the COA Academic Grants program.<br>
- The decisions of the Committee are final.<br>
