This <b>free, online course</b> is focused on introducing the creation of digital data about biodiversity specimens to those who are just beginning this activity. This course is targeted at those already associated with a biodiversity collection, such as student technicians, collections management professionals, or curators. The course will be relevant to a diversity of collection types. Participants do not need prior knowledge of biodiversity informatics or specialized software. </div><div><br></div><div>The course will occur from <b>July 11–14 (Tuesday–Friday) between 11 am and 3 pm ET</b> (=New York City time). Participants can expect to spend three hours per day in synchronous meetings and as much as two additional hours of preparation time per day outside class. So this is about a 20-hour time commitment. </div><div><br></div><div>The course will be delivered in English. We intend to offer the course in Spanish sometime soon. Those interested in participating from outside the US may apply.</div><div><br></div><div>The course will be led by Austin Mast, with contributions from David Jennings, Fritz Pichardo Marcano, and a panel of representatives from collection management systems. </div><div><br></div><div><div><b>Applications are due by 9 am ET on Monday, June 12. </b>We plan to notify applicants of admission decisions by 5 pm ET on June 13.
