Connecticut Poetry Circuit-- Kim Bridgford
The Connecticut Poetry Circuit is pleased to announce that Kim Bridgford
has been chosen as this years touring poet. Bridgford will be meeting
classes and giving readings at colleges across the state. All of her
readings are open to the public.
Kim Bridgford has published three books of poetry: Undone, nominated for
the Pulitzer Prize; Instead of Maps, nominated for the Poets Prize; and In
the Extreme: Sonnets about World Records, winner of the Donald Justice
Poetry Award. Though best known as a poet--her work having been published
extensively in the U.S., Canada, and the UKshe is also a fiction writer
and critic. She serves as editor of Dogwood and the online womens
formalist magazine Mezzo Cammin. Bridgford has received grants from the
National Endowment for the Arts and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts
and was selected Connecticut Professor of the Year by the Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Kim Bridgford is a Professor
of English at Fairfield University.

The Connecticut Poetry Circuit was established in 1968 to continue the work
of the New England Poetry Circuit, which was established in 1964 at the
request of the Academy of American Poets. The work of the Circuit is
guided by a panel of poets: Dick Allen, Vivian Shipley, Clare Rossini, and
Kate Rushin. The Circuit is directed by James Gentile and Mariana
