Poet-critic Lisa Steinman is the author of scholarly books including
<i>Made In America: Science, Technology, and American Modernist Poets</i>
and <i>Masters of Repetition: Poetry, Culture, and Work in Thomson, Wordsworth, Shelley, and Emerson</i>, and of five books of poetry: <i>Lost Poems;</i> <i>All That Comes To Light; A Book Of Other Days; Ordinary Songs</i>; and most recently <i>Carslaw’s Sequences</i>. Steinman received the Oregon Book Award for <i>A Book Of Other Days</i> in 1993 and <i>Ordinary Songs</i> was a nominee for the same prize in 1997; <i>Carslaw’s Sequences</i> was a finalist for the Tampa Review Prize for Poetry in 2003. She has received grants and awards from the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Steinman is Kenan Professor of English and Humanities at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.<br>
