<u>Noel Valis</u></b></font> , Professor of Spanish at Yale University,
is the author of fifteen books, including <i>The Decadent Vision in
Leopoldo Alas, The Novels of Jacinto Octavio Picon, </i>and <i>The
Culture of Cursileria: She has published translations (The Poetry
of Julia Uceda; Prelude to Pleasure, </i>by Pedro Salinas), poetry and
stories in <i>Event, Portland Review, Centennial Review </i>and
elsewhere. She published a book of poetry, <i>My House Remembers
Me/Mi casa me recuerda</i> in 2003. <b><u>Kevin Carey</u> </b>is
Chairman of the World Language Department at Saint Joseph High School in
Trumbull, Connecticut, and the former editor of <i>Connecticut River
Review. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Connecticut chapter
of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and on
the board of the Connecticut Poetry Society. His poetry has
appeared most recently in Connecticut Review, Caduceus, </i>and <i>Common
Ground. </i><b><u>Maria Martino Crocetti</u>, </b>Director of the
Spanish Language Program at Yale, was born in Italy and raised in
Argentina.Las ultimas baldosas del patio, in 1995. A longtime
member of the Yale Poetry Group, she is currently working on a second
book of poetry in bilingual format. Her poetry has also appeared in
literary magazines and journals.Lilian Uribe is a specialist in
contemporary Spanish-American poetry. A professor at Central
Connecticut State University, she is chief editor for the
Spanish-American Poetry section of the <i>Handbook for Latin American
Studies </i>published by the Library of Congress. Among her
publications are two books on Argentinean poet Juan Gelman.
<b><u>Diana P. Valencia</u> </b>is Associate Professor of Spanish at
Saint Joseph College, West Hartford, Connecticut. An expert on
Latin American literature --particularly the essays and poetry of
Octavio Paz she has written numerous essays and presentations on Martha
Cerda, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, and the Chilean poets Oscar Hahn, Pedro
Lastra and Enrique Lihn.<br>
