WITH URBAN STORYTELLING <br>
Andy Borowitz returns for one night only in “Mind Games,” an enchanting
evening-salon of riveting tales, moving confessions and plenty of
laughs.<i> </i>Described as a floating nightclub devoted to the spoken
word, “The Moth” has been dubbed “New York’s hottest and hippest literary
ticket,” by the Wall Street Journal. Award winning humorist Andy Borowitz
take the spotlight for a single performance at 8:00pm on October 22 at
the Quinnipiack Club in New Haven. Doors open at 7:00pm for
cocktails.<br>
First making its New Haven debut and an instant sell-out hit at this
year’s International Festival of Arts & Ideas, “The Moth” is a unique
theatrical showcase in an intimate cabaret setting. Each show is
organized around a different theme and gathers storytellers from all
walks of life to tell<i> </i>personal <i>and true</i> spellbinding tales.
Notable literary figures, pop culture celebrities, politicians and
everyday “Joe’s” who have participated in the past include Ethan Hawke,
Frank McCourt, Suzanne Vega, Janeane Garofalo, Spalding Gray, Margaret
Cho and George Plimpton. Last summer’s show featured Andy Borowitz, Joyce
Maynard, Cindy Chupack (Executive Producer of Sex and the City) and local
New Haven personality and <b>Yale</b> professor Bill Graustein. <br>
An all-new line up of New York and New Haven raconteurs features tales by
Lee Aaron Blair, a professional gambler and NPR “Marketplace”
commentator; comedian Jessi Klein of VH1; Murat Gunel, Chief of the
Neurovascular Surgery Program at <b>Yale</b>; Sherman “OT” Powell, former
pickpocket from New York City and Thayer “Ted” Baldwin, Judge of the
Superior Court of CT. <br>
“The Moth,” started in 1997 by poet & novelist George Dawes Green,
who wrote “The Caveman’s Valentine” and “The Juror.” Green wanted to
recreate in NYC, the feeling of summer sultry nights in Georgia when his
friends would gather on the front porch to spin captivating stories, as
“the moths” gathered around the light bulb.<br>
