About The Book:
In Lostlindens: A Full Account, with New Information
Concerning the Riddle of Shakespeare’s Boot, David Nolta brings back
Hiawatha and Antigone Musingthe popular siblings, professors, and
part-time sleuths of his first novel, Grave Circlefor an
unexpectedly perilous tour of the sprawling English estate
Lostlindens. The curtain rises on the grand Lostlindens
homestead where Hiawatha has escorted a group of American college
students to view a priceless Shakespearean relic. From the moment of
their arrival at the great house, things go very wrong very fast.
Confronted with a double homicide, Hiawatha desperately calls in his
sister, Antigone, for help. Together, in this mystery that offers the
perfect marriage of the academic and country house genres, Hi and Tig
unravel the fascinating tangles that link the various temporary and
long-term inhabitants of Lostlindens, dabbling in history, romance, and
subterfuge along the way. Nolta sustains the sumptuous style of the
first Ivory Tower Mystery, Grave Circle, embellishing the strange and
suspenseful story with witty and original insights into such topics as
academic and social pretension, romantic love, and the strange traits
that make it possible and impossible for humans to coexist. The result is
as amusing as it is absorbing: a livelyand deadlyromp which has been
given a “five bolt” (highest) rating in the New Mystery
Reader.
