</b></font>His name is Jack. And he’s a nineteenth-century serial
killer. But this Jack doesn’t rip . . . he “thwacks.” Jack
the Jolly Thwacker is how he’s known to history. Set in New York
City in 1882, Chris Elliott’s The Shroud of the Thwacker </i>hilariously
chronicles the adventures of police chief Caleb Spencer and his two
cohorts, Evening Post </i>reporter Liz Smith and mayor Teddy Roosevelt,
as they unravel the mystery of the world’s first (and most bizarre)
serial killer. The elusive Thwacker dresses his victims in
outlandish costumes, leaves behind taunting poetry, and leads the
authorities on a wild chase through New York streets and scenes.
Hot on the killer’s trail is, in a bizarre twist, Christ Elliott
himself. Using historical records, he finds increasingly curious
evidence that the killer might well be from the twentieth century.
These investigations draw him literally </i>into the case, as, in true
Chris Elliott fashion, actual time travel comes into play. Taking
hilarious swipes at Patricia Cornwell, The Da Vinci Code, </i>and Caleb
Carr’s mysteries, Elliott delivers a laugh-out-loud novel that will
delight humor and mystery lovers as well as his maniacal, devoted
fans.</h2><br><br>

</b></font>Comedian Chris Elliott became known in the early 1980s playing
an assortment of recurring oddball characters on NBC’s <i>Late Night With
David Letterman. </i>In 1990 he starred in <i>Get A Life!</i>, a
sitcom about a 30-year-old paperboy named “Chris Peterson” who lived at
home with his parents. Chris’ real-life father, the legendary
comedian Bob Elliott, appeared in the show as Peterson’s father. In
1994 he became a cast member of <i>Saturday Night Live</i> and also
starred in his first movie, <i>Cabin Boy. </i>Among his other films
are <i>Groundhog Day </i>and<i> The Abyss.<br>
