<i>Yale Collection of American Literature Reading Series</i><o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Jean Valentine won the Yale Younger Poets Award for her first book, <i>Dream
Barker,</i> in 1965; her tenth and most recent book of poetry, <a
href="http://www.jeanvalentine.com/littleboat.html"><i>Little Boat</i></a>, was
published in 2007. In 2004, <i><a
href="http://www.jeanvalentine.com/doormt.html">Door in the Mountain: New and
Collected Poems 1965 - 2003</a></i>, was the winner of the National Book Award
for Poetry. A chapbook, <i><a href="http://www.jeanvalentine.com/lucy.html">Lucy</a>,</i>
was published by Sarabande Books in 2009. A new collection, <i>Break the Glass,</i>
is forthcoming from Copper Canyon Books. She was awarded the 2009 Wallace
Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets; she has received a Guggenheim
Fellowship and awards from the NEA, The Bunting Institute, The Rockefeller Foundation,
The New York Council for the Arts, and The New York Foundation for the Arts.
