<b><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:maroon">Reginald Dwayne Betts is a husband and father of two sons. He began his writing life at the age of sixteen, after pleading guilty to carjacking and being sentenced to nine years in
prison. Dwayne imagined that words would bring hope and solace—qualities he could not find within the walls of a prison. He is the author of three books, <i>Bastards of the Reagan Era,</i> the 2010 NAACP Image Award winning memoir, <i>A Question of Freedom</i>,
and, the poetry collection,<i> Shahid Reads His Own Palm</i>.</span></b><o:p></o:p></p>

serve as a Practitioner Member of the Coordinating Council of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Dwayne has been profiled in the Washington Post, USA Today, The New Yorker, The Huffington Post, CNN and NPR have. In addition to his
social justice work, Dwayne has given readings, speeches and lectures at universities across the country.</span></b><o:p></o:p></p>
