<b>TODAY at</b> <b>6:30pm in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, Room 211</b> we will be joined by the witty and wonderful poet
<b>David Trinidad</b>. The evening’s graduate poet opening act will be <b>Mia Kang</b>, PhD student in the History of Art. Known for his engaging transfiguration of pop culture and playful experimentation with form, David has three recently published books:
<i>Notes on a Past Life</i> (2016), <i>Descent of the Dolls: Part 1</i> (2016, with Jeffery Conway and Gillian McCain) and
<i>Swinging on a Star</i> (2017). Co-sponsored by the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Georgia",serif">David Trinidad</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Georgia",serif">’s latest book of poems is
<i>Swinging on a Star</i>, published by Turtle Point Press in 2017. His other books include
<i>Dear Prudence: New and Selected Poems </i>(2011) and <i>Peyton Place: A Haiku Soap Opera</i> (2013), both published by Turtle Point, and
<i>Notes on a Past Life</i>, published by BlazeVOX [books] in 2016. He is also the editor of
<i>A Fast Life: The Collected Poems of Tim Dlugos</i> (Nightboat Books, 2011). Trinidad lives in Chicago, where he is a Professor of Creative Writing/Poetry at Columbia College.<br>

<b>Mia Kang</b> is an Oregon-born, Texas-raised writer, named the 2017 winner of <i>
Boston Review</i>’s Annual Poetry Contest by Mónica de la Torre. Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in journals including
<i>Rattle Poets Respond</i>, <i>Narrative Magazine</i>, <i>Sugar House Review</i>, and the
<i>PEN Poetry Series</i>. A Brooklyn Poets Fellow and runner-up for the 2017 Discovery/<i>Boston Review</i> Poetry Contest, she is a recipient of the Academy of American Poets’ 2016 Catalina Páez and Seumas MacManus Award, among others. Mia is a PhD student
in the history of art at Yale University, where she studies contemporary art, constitutive outsides, and impasse.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
