Dear Colleagues,

The NACO Coordinating Committee is pleased to offer an introduction to the newly available authority features in WorldShare Record Manager. The training session will be led by Dominique Bourassa, on Thursday, October 4th from 10:30 to 12:00 am, in the training room B174, at 344 Winchester Ave.

On the program:

  *   Searching WMS
  *   Creating authority records (including saving to YUL's save file and adding records to NAF)
  *   Linking NAF records
  *   Deriving records from other NAF records and from other authority files
  *   Linking records from other authority files

If you have had trouble with your NACO permission in WorldShare Record Manager, it is probably because OCLC never knew you were allowed to create authority records. Our OCLC permission list is really outdated. Would every YUL NACO participant please send me their name and permission number (the 100-XXX-XXX authorization number to log in to Connexion(?  After the list is compiled, I will give it to Rick who will update the list of permissions on the OCLC website.

Hi Tom and colleagues,

Even if you don't have trouble creating a WMS account, you might not have access to all the features in WMS if OCLC does not have your name associated with that number. This is why it is important to have a correct list of names and authorization numbers.
