<font size=3>Right before the break I forwarded a message from OCLC
saying there would be a delay in loading new/changed authority records
received from LC; an update on this situation is below. Apparently the
name record loads are finally caught up with (and thus our NACO work
should not be affected) but they still have some catching up to do for
the subject records.<br><br>

All LC *name* distribution authority files have been successfully loaded
up to and including 20070102 into OCLC systems and are available to
Connexion and Z39.50 users. <br>

There may be some residual issues related to the locks on some of the
records; if an authority record appears to be incorrectly locked, please
contact OCLC Quality Control staff at authfile@oclc.org, and
include in the message the OCLC ARN of the locked record.

Staff anticipate that subjects files will be loaded later and another
update will be sent to the list upon the succesful loading of those
files.<br>

Subject: [OCLC-CAT] OFFICIAL: Temporary cessation of loading LC authority
distribution files<br><br>
As a result of changes outside of OCLC's control that impact the
authorities distribution files, we will not load new authorities files
(names and subjects) until after the first of the year.<br><br>
This decision will have an impact on all OCLC users (Connexion and
Z39.50) of the LC Names and Subject Authority Files: <br><br>
1. The most recent distributed files loaded into OCLC systems from the
Library of Congress were those dated 12/18. Any records currently in the
distribution queue will remain in that state. Please note: No data will
be lost.<br><br>
2. Users can continue to add newly created authority records using
Connexion. OCLC will continue to send distribution files to the Library
of Congress on a daily basis, however, no files will be loaded. Please
note: No data will be lost.<br><br>
3. Users can continue to modify existing authority records using
Connexion. It is important to be aware, however, that because no files
are being loaded, the version of the record retrieved *may* not be the
most current version. <br><br>
OCLC deeply regrets the inconvenience resulting from this decision and
will work to resume normal activities in a timely manner. Updates will be
posted as more information becomes available.<br><br>
