Name Authority Headings for Canadian Entities

After consultations with the Library and Archives Canada, LC-CPSO have
revised documentation for creating Canadian corporate name authority
records in the LC/NACO Name Authority File.

Essentially, the revised procedure allows a NACO member to contribute a
corporate name authority record to the authority file and then notify the
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) through a web form available on the PCC
web site at:

http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/LAC-nacohdgform.html

Please note that this simplified procedure requires the cataloger to
provide an e-mail address so that the LAC may respond directly to the
cataloger making the request. Note also that the current practice for
Canadian personal names and for citing LAC information in the 670 remains
the same.

Descriptive Cataloging Manual (DCM) update 3, issued August 1, 2007
contains the relevant guidelines in the Z1,1XX section.
