Have you ever been unable to find an LC subject heading that you
know must exist? Ever proposed a new heading, only to find that it was not approved because the concept is covered by an existing heading? Then “Searching for Subjects: A Mini-Workshop” is for you! The workshop, which is an adaptation and condensation
of a class offered to Library of Congress cataloging staff, will focus on using both LCSH’s structure and Classification Web search techniques to find headings that may not be obvious at first glance.

The mini-workshop will consist of discussion of examples and led by Janis L. Young, a senior cataloging policy specialist in the Library of Congress’ Policy and Standards Division.
