I’m pleased to announce that Matthew Beaceom, Catalog/Metadata Librarian, has fulfilled the criteria to achieve NACO independence for personal names. Over the period of his review, Matthew has created authority records for a wide array
of authors, booksellers, printers, and publishers, which has necessitated familiarity with reference sources for the early book trade as well as RDA’s rules for selecting among different versions of a person’s name. His work demonstrates an understanding of
both RDA and NACO guidance and the needs of authority work in a special collections context.
