Greetings,<br><br>
I just wanted to give everyone an update on the problems you've been
encountering with holdings records, especially with the word
"Oversize" in the 852 field. We've opened an incident
with Endeavor (#118373 on SupportWeb), and they are currently working
with us to solve this problem. We think the problem was caused by a
holdings index regeneration that was done on February 24th. As soon
as we know more details we'll send an update.<br><br>
Best regards,<br>

members of the Catalog Dept. have been recently noticing that LC call
numbers for oversize items, correctly formatted in the MFHD's 852 field,
are <u>appearing on the Item Record without the word
"Oversize"</u> in the Call # field.<br><br>
for an example, see Item Record# 6691032<br>
the
<font color="#0000FF">MFHD</font>, HLDG# 7730316
has: 852 01 ‡b sml ‡h <font color="#0000FF">HQ1236.5.N5
‡i P76 (LC)+ ‡m Oversize</font> ‡x (Mark by yrs./Bind) <br>
but the call# on the <font color="#FF0000">Item Record</font> (#
6691032) displays as: <font color="#FF0000">HQ1236.5.N5 ‡i
P76 (LC)+ <br>
</font>the "Oversize" is missing from the call# (and it needs
to be there in order to generate the correct call# for the labeling
program).<br>
we've tried deleting the call# and re-keying, creating a diff 852 field,
re-entering/saving, etc., all to no avail. <br><br>
Integrated Library Technology Services (a.k.a. the Systems Office) has
been notified, and they are looking into the problem.<br><br>
in the meantime, <b>members of the Catalog Dept. are asked to put aside
any oversize items and not send them to Preparations<br>
</b>until we are able to rectify the call# problem.<br>
perhaps other cataloging units might consider holding on to their
oversize items as well, until this can be resolved.<br><br>
we'll continue to keep you informed. <br>
thanks, ellen jaramillo. <br><br>
