this Summer's series of REFreshers: <b> Reference aggregators.<br><br>
</b>Hundreds of reference works which began their lives in print are
being digitized, and many are becoming cross-searchable through a number
of different "aggregators". Please join us for discussion
of two major types of these new aggregators:
<ul>
<li>Individual publishers' offerings that offer electronic access across
their own reference titles to either e-books or a database of content
(<a href="http://www.oxfordreference.com/views/GLOBAL.html?authstatuscode=200">Oxford
Reference Online</a>, the
<a href="http://www.gale.com/gvrl/index.htm">Gale Virtual Reference
Collection</a>, and
<a href="http://www.gale.com/servlet/ItemDetailServlet?region=9&imprint=000&titleCode=GAL9&type=4&id=111000">Gale's
Ready Reference Shelf</a>)
<li>Services that offer access to reference titles from many publishers
and support either full-text searching or searching of "back of the
book" indexes in order to increase use of a library's print
reference collection
