Some highlights from the ALA Midwinter meeting of the Lexis-Nexis Content
Advisory Committee meeting:

1. Le Monde negotiations are still underway. The French branch of
LN is responsible for that. LN is planning to get the content back in
2006 and is optimistic about its return.
2. FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) mystery has been
unraveled. This title was taken down from LNA by mistake; there was
confusion about what could go into the US academic market versus the
German academic market. Work is underway within LN to get this
corrected.

3. The October market research survey reached ~ 4,000 people and provided
a mandate for changing the product; the company will be hiring a product
manager who will be attending Content Advisory Committee meetings.
The intent of the company is to move forward with a redesign to address
as many of the customers’ needs as possible. 3 priorities have
emerged: open url/link resolver support; enabling searching against all
content, and federated searching. Having bibliographic or citation
manager functionality (like EndNote, Pro-Cite, RefWorks, or “EasyBib”) is
a priority.
