Hello Zoe and Evan,
I send this only because you'll both be back next year.
Two of the great lessons of my life came from flying supersonic acrobatic aircraft (50+ years ago). The flashier of the two is, "It's not how things get messed up, but how you RECOVER that counts." But the more important but easier to disregard is, "Complacency kills".
I came to Friday concerts in the 1990s when European full-time carillonneurs were regulars, and came when students proved they were just as good ~ and were having more fun. I spent 1980's New Year's Eve in James Larson's bell-tower apartment as he serenaded Manhattan from Riverside Church. And I was given an .mp3 file of Ellen Dickenson's "Imagine" performed in 2019. I've corresponded regularly, usually sending Johnny Carson and Jack Webb's carillon comedy routine from the 1970s.
Yet I only got word of this summer's program last week, after having inquired twice earlier in the year (before classes ended). It seems reasonable to assume many other regulars were missed by whatever search method you used to email news of this concert season's offerings. Perhaps someone in the Management School could do a merge-and-purge on your several ancient contact lists.
Best wishes,
Bill St. PaulRetired GeezerBranford CT
