Want to watch a hilarious TV sitcom about a Chinese American family? Join
CASA for a viewing of a *Fresh Off the Boat* episode followed by a
discussion focused on the relationship between Chinese language and Chinese
American political identity. We'll have yummy Asian snacks!

*In the Spotlight: Grace Lee Boggs*

*One of the United States' oldest human rights activists, Grace Lee Boggs
has fought for civil rights, labor, feminism, racial equality, and
environmental justice, among other causes for the seventy decades before
passing away in 2015. Born to Chinese immigrants in the restaurant
industry, Boggs was a writer and philosopher who got involved in political
activism initially as a translator of Karl Marx's works. Later on, she
became known for her contributions to the Black Power movement, working
closely with Malcolm X. However, she eventually adopted Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr.'s nonviolent methods, turning his vision of "beloved communities"
into a reality in Detroit: leading food cooperatives, volunteer groups, and
protests to support the elderly, the unemployed, and the poor. In her last
