Watched a Catbird trying to make a meal of a butterfly today. I was close
enough to hear the birds beak snapping as it grabbed the butterfly only to
the birds surprise, the butterfly would fly away. After 5 or 6 attempts the
butterfly was able to escape by flying past me. I watched the very tattered
butterfly disappear into some thick brush while the bird went looking for
another meal. Butterflies seen this morning: Red Admiral, Spicebush,
Monarch, Clouded Sulphur, Striped H/S, Pearl Crescent, Azure, Great
Spangled, Wood Nymph, Ringlet, Little Wood, Dun, Tawny Edge, and a very
tattered Brown. Rich Chyinski
