Hi all -
This report is a little late, but a visit to Haley Farm State Park in Groton last Friday, 7/06, yielded lots of Coral Hairstreaks, Little Wood Satyrs, Common Wood Nymphs, American Coppers, E. Tiger Swallowtail, Delaware, Dun and Little Glassywing skippers, both Sulphurs and Cabbage Whites. The wind was gusting, so the butterflies were trying to stay out of the way, and I wasn't trying to make any count of individual numbers.
Of course, the Butterflyweed (Orange Milkweed) plants were in full bloom, and the fields were glowing with color. We will be counting there for the New London Summer Butterfly Count on Sunday, July 15, meeting there at 8am.
Oh yes - a correction on the East Haddam SBC report - my brain short-circuited on the names. It was Diane Adams of Chester, CT that helped us out (I have no idea where the name Diane Price came from). Sorry 'bout that, Diane.
