On Saturday, November 3, I found a single Clouded Sulphur nectaring on
dandelions here in Wallingford.
According to Steve Walter's very informative website, The Mulberry Wing
Online (http://www.hmana.org/mulberry/), in southeast NY, the all time late
date for this species is November 14 in three different years. Clearly, the
flight time for this species in CT is almost over.
However, as long as it does not get too cold, Orange Sulphurs can be seen
flying as late as early December. Thus, there may be another 4-5 weeks
before the 2001 butterfly season is over.
