cabbage whites and more

Several Cabbage Whites while digging up the backyard to expand the
garden.
Also, something in the neighbors yard that looked, from a distance, like
an American Painted Lady or Monarch, but small.
Isn't it early for those anyway?  Perhaps some smaller fritillary...I
dunno, I never got close, but it appeared largely orange with some darker
markings on it.
