West Rock Ridge St. Park

On Saturday, 6/29, a total of 28 species of butterflies were present at this 
site, 26 species in the Lake Wintergreen section alone.  The complete list is 
as follows:

Clouded Sulphur (1)
Orange Sulphur (3)
Coral Hairstreak (4)
Edwards' Hairstreak (11) (On top of the ridge, particularly the trail on the 
west side of the overlook parking lot)
Banded Hairstreak (32)
Hickory Hairstreak (1) (On the road going up the ridge)
Striped Hairstreak (1) (Lake Wintergreen)
Southern Hairstreak (1) (Lake Wintergreen)
Eastern Tailed Blue (4)
Summer Azure (5)
Great Spangled Fritillary (9)
Red-spotted Purple (1)
Appalachian Brown (4)
Little Wood Satyr (1)
Silver-spotted Skipper (3)
