Six folks went up West Rock, CT on the Connecticut Butterfly
Association hike this morning. Although it was reasonably
warm by the time we got up on to the top of the ridge,
there was little activity. I dare say we almost saw
fewer butterflies than we numbered ourselves!
Erynnis juvenalis Juvenal's Duskywing ca. 7
Everes comyntas Eastern Tailed Blue 3
Pieris rapae Cabbage White 1
Vanessa virginiensis American Lady 1
No Anthocharis midea (Orange Tip), nor their eggs or
larvae in searches of a fair number of two species of
crucifer hostplans. No Callophrys grynea (Olive Hairstreak)
despite many kicked cedars. But it was fun! Maybe next time...
Best,
Larry
