Hi all -

A beautiful day in the neighborhood, and I ventured out to the Wapowog Road WMA, the Harlo Haagonsen (CT Audubon) Preserve, Mt. Parnassus Rd. skating rink, and the Shannaghan Road powerlines. Wapowog is in East Hampton, the others in East Haddam.

New for the year for me;

Little Wood Satyr (1 at HH, 3 at SR)
Peck's Skipper (multiple places)
Dusted Skipper ( 1 at Wapowog - see photo)

The Dusted was a surprise, since I have been butterflying Wapowog for a few years without ever seeing one there before. That adds Wapowog to my list of sites where I have seen the Bluestem Trio - Cobweb, Dusted and Leonard's Skppers. Neat butterfly. Groucho Eyebrows.

Species diversity was down from last week, but individual numbers were up - lots of Wild Indigo Duskywings and Pearl Crescents in multiple locations, and significantly more Eastern Tailed-blues and American Ladies. One Lady was so large that, at a distance, I at first thought I was seeing an approaching fritillary!

Species seen:

Spicebush Swallowtail - 1
Cabbage White - 5
Clouded Sulphur - 10+
American Copper - 10+
Eastern Tailed-blue - 15+
Pearl Crescent - 100+
Little Wood Satyr - 3
Juvenal's Duskywing - 8
Wild-Indigo Duskywing - 12
Peck's Skipper - 9
Tawny-edged Skipper - 3
Dusted Skipper - 1
