Sulphur?

There is a butterfly (checked the antennae this time) in my garden. If you have the Audubon field guide (yellow cover) see plate # 88 - Thula Sulphur. I'm not saying that's what this is, as it would be really out of its range, simply that's the color and pattern on the folded wing.
 
I have a photo (not great; at times like this one wishes for a better digital camera) if anyone thinks they may have an id.
 
Could it be European?
