Hi Leppeoples - I just had a good emergence of Oak Beauties(Nacropha
quernaria)in my yard last night. I know others have been coming across them
earlier, but my yard has been a little behind schedule this year. Things
are finally starting to pop up though(they've been well watered the last
weeks). Anyway, there were about 10 Beauties on the sheet and among them
was a melanistic (dark form) individual. I took a picture. I love
abberations! Out of all the the moths I come across, this one seems to turn
up the most frequently in melanistic form - usually get a couple a year.
Photo's at the usual place - www.connecticutmoths.com

Still waiting to see a Luna - my daughter's sighting of one the other day
got me a-hankerin'...
