Fresh Meadows Sanctuary, Cheshire

Saturday, June 26th-Despite the mostly cloudy skies, a total of 21 species of 
butterflies were present at the Sanctuary this afternoon.  The list for the 
day is as follows:

Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Cabbage White (55)
Clouded Sulphur (6)
Orange Sulphur (2)
American Copper (1)
Banded Hairstreak (1)
Oak Hairstreak (1) (obviously my first of the year)
Eastern Tailed Blue (9)
Summer Azure (3)
Great Spangled Fritillary (5)
Eastern Comma (1)
American Lady (1) (very worn)
Little Wood Satyr (1)
Common Wood Nymph (1) (my first of the year)
Monarch (1)
Silver-spotted Skipper (1)
Hoary Edge (1)
Least Skipper (5)
European Skipper (27)
Little Glassywing (6)
Hobomok Skipper (1) (very worn)

Butterflies tended to congregate near the stands of Common Milkweed that are 
starting to bloom.
