Field trip report

On Saturday, 8/27 10 butterfliers joined me on the CBA field trip to Jared  
Elliot Preserve in Guilford where we found the following species:
 
Black Swallowtail (2)
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (1-2)
Cabbage White (3)
Clouded Sulphur (2)
Orange Sulphur (1)
Gray Hairstreak (1) (My first of the year)
Eastern Tailed Blue (5)
Great Spangled Fritillary (1)
Pearl Crescent (2)
Monarch (2)
Silver-spotted Skipper (2)
Least Skipper (1)
Peck's Skipper (5)
Tawny-edged Skipper (1)
Zabulon Skipper (1) (female)
Broad-winged Skipper (15)
 
We next visited Chaffinch Island Park in Guilford, a site that proved to be  
very quiet... the sole butterfly sighting was a Black Swallowtail and then 
went  on to Van Wilgen's Nursery in North Branford where we found the following  
species:
 
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (1)
Cabbage White (3)
Clouded Sulphur (3)
American Lady (2)
Painted Lady (2)
Monarch (3)
Silver-spotted Skipper (4)
Common Sootywing (1)
Peck's Skipper (2)
Tawny-edged Skipper (2)
Zabulon Skipper (1) (female)
