Hi All,

Went to Haddam Meadows today to get milkweed for the caterpillars & show other Brownie moms where to find it! Our troop caterpillar project has been very successful--several caterpillars have pupated so far, and a few adults have been released.

Saw several monarchs, including one patrolling that kept chasing away a Black Swallowtail. Also several Tiger Swallowtails and a Silver Spotted Skipper. And a couple of small skippers, possibly Least? One of my friends gathered several Monarch eggs.

This past week, I think I saw a Luna Moth at Haddam-Killingworth High School. I was leaving the school in a line of traffic, so I couldn't stop to check, but I definitely saw something large and light green flying. It was around 11 AM.

Time to start mentioning the next field trip! Saturday August 26, Lenny will be leading a trip to Jared Elliott Preserve in Guilford (and a few other surrounding areas)--word is that the Hackberry Emperors may put in an appearance...
