Unusual mating exercise...

By the way, during the past week on a hillside in northeastern MA I observed a male Eastern Tailed Blue (the larger "phenotype") attempting unsuccessfully to mate with a female Gray Hairstreak... This exercise continued over a period of about 5 minutes...

Were you at the Chaffinch Park picnic? I'm, again, rather surprised that no Asterocampas were seen there...

As time and gasoline prices permit, I'm keeping an eye out for celtis at the Cedar Hill Cemetery mausoleum in Hartford.  I learned of the presence of the species in the course of a bird walk there in May.
