Hi Lenny et al,
Since you've revisited Chaffinch, I guess I have to tell my tale of galloping woe.
I revisited Tuesday at noon. My first sighting was Noble Proctor, on his way out, who told me that he'd hit the trifecta: Snout, Hackberry Emperor and Tawny Emperor. He tried to describe where he'd seen them--sounded fairly straightforward (go around the lilac bushes; near the lady painting), but I looked and looked and couldn't find any of them!! I did catch a glimpse of something near the lilacs that definitely wasn't a gypsy moth--larger, had spots, seemed emperor shaped, but nothing definite (other than a black swallowtail and several cabbage whites).
I'm glad you had better luck!!
Diane
