more cabbage whites

Well, my daughter beat me--she saw our first butterfly first.  We were outside yesterday (Friday 4/20) and she said, "Mommy, there's a Cabbage White!"  And there it was.  And one more in the yard, and a couple in "downtown Chester" later that afternoon.

Also a couple in the yard today.  I've also seen a couple of dark butterflies go past--unfortunately, by the time I look, they're usually on the other side of the street, and I'm a little too out-of-practice to identify them from that far!

A question--we have an area that's absolutely covered with garlic mustard.  Any suggestions for safe ways to eradicate it?  There's no way I'm going to be able to dig it all up--some of it is in the midst of wild rosebushes and grapevines.
