Hairstreaks. I went to Haley St. Park in Noank this morning. Haley is know
to have plenty of Hairstreaks, especially Coral. The fields were in full bloom
with Butterfly Weed (Aclepias tuberosa). I did find one Hairstreak probably a
Coral but as I moved in closer for a clearer view, it was attacked by a Wasp
and disappeared.
Other B/Fs seen.
Spicebush Swallowtail
Orange and Clouded Sulphur
Cabbage White
Summer Azure
Red Admiral
American Copper
Comma
Great Spangled Fritillary
Little Wood Satyr
Silver Spotted Skipper
Northern Broken Dash, Little Glassy Wing and Delaware Skippers
On the way home I stopped at a small bog I hadn't checked in a few years to
look for Bog Coppers and found two. The bog has a healthy population of small
pink Orchids (Swamp Pink?) also.
