Hi. I am a real novice butterfly enthusiast. I work at Hill-Stead Museum, and I took a walk the other day. I saw a few leps that I recognized, for example Black Swallowtail, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Common Ringlet, Cabbage White, Little Wood Satyr, Red Admiral, Silver-Spotted Skipper, Northern Cloudywing, Least Skipper, Long Dash, Peck's. What I wondered was, could I possibly have seen a West Virginia White? The butterfly I saw looks EXACTLY like the picture in Butterflies Through Binoculars, and flew just like the description in the book, etc. I don't remember ever seeing this reported, so I wonder whether it is just wishful thinking on my part. Can anyone advise me? Thank you for your help! Diane Tucker ps mustard white is a possibility too, but I don't have a good picture.
