Today I took a walk at a very beautiful Harkness Park.

Much to my surprise, one of the first butterflies I saw was a very fresh and
irridescent male Pipevine Swallowtail! He fluttered about the heliotope garden
for a few minutes and took off, not be be seen again.

I also had one on Sept 13 in my backyard. It must be a good year for them
because I've never known them to be in this neck of the woods before!

Also at harkness

Hundreds of Monarchs
Two American Ladies
Many cabbage whites and Clouded Sulphurs.

Wednesday at Griswold Point Old Lyme

Many Monarchs
One male BST
Many clouded sulphurs and cabbage whites

And one Cloudless Sulphur female seen ovipositing on partridge pea. I
collected a couple of eggs. Will try to raise them if they hatch even though it's
quite late.

Also, three of my over 50 Black swallowtail pupas have eclosed in the last
two days. I thought they'd all overwinter. All three are male.
