Come to Lighthouse Point Park on Sunday, Sept 23, and enjoy the Migration Festival.

Hawk watching and a bird walk start at 8 am. There will be bird banding, ID workshops, open house at the ranger station, the carousel will be running, the lighthouse will be open for the hardy souls that want to make the climb to the top. Wind Over Wings will have live birds of prey and Brian Bradley, a falconer, will bring his falcon and Harris Hawk for a flight demos.

The snack bar will be open with hot coffee, soda, hotdogs, hambergers and other goodies and home made clam chowder (really good). Or, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the park.

The weather looks good and the butterflies should be plentiful. A lot of dragonflies are migrating thru the park as well.

Last year the weather was not that good but we had hundreds upon hundreds of Monarchs roosting in the trees to keep out of the wind until the day warmed up. It was just like the pictures one sees in the magazines. Everyone that came had a great time.

CBA members, check your latest newsletter for the schedule.

  See you all on Sunday.

Sponsored by the New Haven Parks Dept, New Haven Bird Club, CT Butterfly Association, CT Ornithological Association, New England Hawkwatch, Audubon CT, Menunkatuck Audubon, CT Audubon and Long Island Sound Funding.
