A couple of years ago Carol & I were walking around the block (a 1 mile walk, her idea - not mine) and we found a female Monarch flitting along the roadside.  It was about this time of the year and if I remember correctly it was the year of the big Monarch flights in CT in late summer.  So, you never can tell..............

Subject: Essex sighting

Sitting at the Essex library, waiting for a student (who didn't show), glanced out the window, saw something large (at first I thought it was a leaf)--a Monarch!!!  It flew around the corner, leaving me doubting what I had seen, but then it flew back and I got a pretty good look.  Faded, but intact.  I've definitely never seen one this early before!
