On Monday, 7/6, I visited the Lake Wintergreen section of West Rock Ridge
St. Park where I found a total of 11 species of butterflies. The list for
the day was as follows:
Cabbage White (3)
Great Spangled Fritillary (3)
American Lady (1)
Appalachian Brown (1)
Common Wood Nymph (1)
Monarch (1)
Silver-spotted Skipper (1)
Hoary Edge (1)
Southern Cloudywing (1)
Little Glassywing (23)
Delaware Skipper (1)
I also hiked the section of the top of the ridge from the top the top of
the tunnel south to Judge's Cave where I found my first Edwards Hairstreak of
the year in a patch of scrub oak.
