Butterfly sightings

On Saturday, 6/27, with the assistance of Andy Brand, I lead a butterfly
field trip at the Lake Chamberlain Regional Water Authority property in
Bethany (entry by permit only), where we found a total of 23 species of
butterflies. The list for the day was as follows:
Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (1)
Cabbage White (12)
Orange Sulphur (1)
Summer Azure (2)
Great Spangled Fritillary (9) (My first of the year)
Question Mark (1)
American Lady (1)
Painted Lady (1)
Red-spotted Purple (1)
Little Wood Satyr (2)
Monarch (1)
Silver-spotted Skipper (1)
South Cloudywing (1)
Northern Cloudywing (1) (worn)
Least Skipper (8)
European Skipper (60)
Peck's Skipper (2)
Tawny-edged Skipper (1)
Little Glassywing (12) (My first of the year)
Hobomok Skipper (2)
Zabulon Skipper (9)
Dun Skipper (1) (My first of the year)
After lunch, I walked the top of the ridge at West Rock Ridge St. Park in
New Haven where I found
Cabbage White (4)
Banded Hairstreak (14)
Hickory Hairstreak (1) (Perched on the leaf of a hickory tree)
Hoary Edge (1)
Southern Cloudywing (1)
