late Monarch caterpillars

Does anyone else seem to tink it's rather late in the year to be finding so 
many monarch caterpillars?

Today, when harvesting milkweed for my monarch cats, I gathered three more 
caterpillars in various stages.

On Sept 5, at Haley, we found many eggs.

Yet, not too many adults flying now.
