Marty,

I would suggest the Petgerson Field Guide for beginners...(Not sure if that's what it's called)...

The original Klots 1951 Peterson Field Guide would be very good in terms of ID clues...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a book to id butterflies for a beginner - I have the National Audubon Society's Butterfly Book but I find it hard to use as a beginner.

How is the 'Peterson' Series Guide?

Also, does anyone know a good source for what to look for - clues - when IDing? (In other words, when birding one checks out beak, feet, patterns, etc)

Thanks,

Marty from Woodbury
