The annual Migration Festival took place at the Lighthouse Point Park in New
Haven this past Sunday. Gary Lemmon and I spent the day hosting visitors in
our CBA Butterfly Garden.

The day was cool and overcast, warming a bit in the early afternoon. Many
old and new friends visited, some lingering for hours. Monarchs flew in one
to three at a time throughout the day. The garden was alive with children of
all ages chasing and netting them.

We tagged 85 and another visitor tagged 14 with her own tags.

Many membership brochures were distributed, and at least one person joined
on the spot.

Other species caught, boxed and observed, or seen on the wing: common
buckeye (2), American lady (2), sachem (~5), fiery skipper (~5), cabbage
white (~10), clouded sulphur (~3).

It was a great way to celebrate the end of another season of field trips.

Items left behind: a medium black LL Bean pull over hooded sweatshirt and a
green water bottle. Contact Gary if they're yours.
