QRWA Butterfly & Bee Garden Hosts Midsummer Celebration

The Quinnipiac River  Watershed Association is hold a midsummer celebration
at its bee and butterfly garden on Sunday, July 24.  Information about the
planned activities appears below.

*The Quinnipiac River Watershed Association's Butterfly and Bee Garden will
host a free public Midsummer Celebration on the grounds of the QRWA
headquarters at 540 Oregon Road, in South Meriden, on Sunday, July 24th,
from noon to 5:00 p.m. *

*The event will offer an array of entertaining and informative family
activities for those with an interest in gardening, butterflies,
environmental preservation, music, and, of course, summer fun.  *

Education coordinator at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, will offer
his popular visual presentation, "Filling Your Garden With Colorful
Butterflies," discussing the importance of butterflies in the garden, how to
identify local species and information on which plants offer the best
sources of food for butterflies.
     *Katherine Dugas*

Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station Entomologist Katherine Dugas
will give a tour of the QRWA Butterfly and Bee Garden, offering in-field
insect identification, and an overview of beneficial and detrimental
species.

Better known as "The Bee Lady,"

will present bee-related materials

and interact with audience members on the industrious honeybee. Her
entertaining program gives audience members a look at the lives of bees and
an understanding of how they interact with each other, their environment
and, most of all, people.

to ALL who have donated and volunteered to make the  QRWA Butterfly and Bee
Garden a wonderful place in our community; a place to reflect, inspire or
