In her dynamic, riveting and informative program at today's Connecticut
Butterfly Association fall meeting, Maraleen Manos-Jones described her
involvement in and the work of the La Cruz Habitat Protection Project's
Forests for Monarchs. The project's main focus is the restoration of forest
in and around the Monarch butterfly's overwintering grounds in Mexico.
More than five million trees have been planted. Through the promotion of
sustainable forest management practices, the project offers both economic
benefits to the local communities and environmental stability for the
butterflies.
More information about the project can be found on both Twitter and Facebook
and on its web site - http://www.forestsformonarchs.org
