On Saturday, May 19th, I visited the section of Robins Swamp WMA on Rt. 126
in Canaan where I found 3 very fresh Giant Swallowtails. (I found a 4th
Giant Swallowtail flying up and down nearby Page Rd.). The list for the day
is as follows:

Giant Swallowtail (3)
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (2)
Cabbage White (3)
Clouded Sulphur (2)
Pearl Crescent (7)
Question Mark (10)
Eastern Comma (1)
Mourning Cloak (1)
American Lady (3)
Painted Lady (1)
Red Admiral (10)
Red-spotted Purple (1)
Common Ringlet (1)

If you want to look for the Giant Swallowtails, park in the Robin's Swamp
WMA parking lot on Rt. 126 just north of the intersection of Rt. 126 and
Page Rd. From the parking lot, cross the street and walk up the dirt road
leading to the farmer's field. The Giant Swallowtails spent a lot of time
sipping minerals in the damp spots on the dirt road.

Please note that it is the spring turkey hunting season and hunting is
permitted in this WMA. Therefore, you will want to make it a point to avoid
looking like a turkey.
