[Ctleps-l] Milkweed at Night

I had a chance to do something the other night that I don't get to do much -
photographing Lepidoptera on milkweed - at night. That's because milkweed
doesn't stay in bloom very long. And of course, those leps at night are
moths. I mention this because it can be a fun venture for those of you with
cameras, but you just never thought of it. (Yes, I know moth enthusiasts are
a limited percentage of this list's followers). A sampling of pictures is up
on my web site (http://www.stevewalternature.com/ , click the moth picture).
It just might make you want to try it.

On another note, related to Lenny's recent comment of northern species, such
as Edward's Hairstreak, retreating. The population at Ward Pound Ridge
Reservation (Westchester, NY) seems to be gone for a few years now. Harris'
Checkerspot still continues there. I guess it's gone from Connecticut, as is
Silvery Checkerspot (which I think is actually more southern). Does anyone
still check former haunts? Getting a little late now, but they were still to
be found on in the Bronx. A feature on that is up on my butterfly page.
